When this post is published, it will be exactly thirty-seven years since the
first explosion ripped through Piper Alpha, which stood about 120 miles
east of Aberdeen in the North Sea. A number of subsequent explosions
destroyed the platform, leading to the death of 167 men. I refer to the

This post is in memory and tribute to those lost on Piper Alpha.
